This work is drawn from Telemann’s famous Concerto in C Major for Four Violins. Telemann wrote four such concerti for his court musicians, of which this is the third in the sequence. In adapting and arranging the work for strings, the arranger utilizes the Grave opening segment of the original concerto as a brief but effective slow middle movement. The first movement is an effective, shortened version of the Allegro segment of the original first movement, while the final movement is indeed the final movement from the original work.
