The vocalist for popular rock band Van Halen, David Lee Roth may be one of the most recognized voices in rock and roll. Though he faded into obscurity somewhat after Van Halen, Roth produced 8 solo albums with various other musicians and remained generally successful. At one point he took the place of his friend Howard Stern for the Howard Stern Radio Show after Stern made the decision to move to SIRIUS Satellite radio. It was cleverly titled, “The David Lee Roth Show.” But it was short-lived, spanning a whole 4 months of airtime. He once made headlines after being arrested for the purchase “$10 worth of some Jamaican bunk reefer” from an undercover police officer. In an interview with Howard Stern, he was asked if it was a publicity stunt. His response: “In New York City, this small of a bust is a $35 traffic citation. It literally says, ‘Buick, Chevy, Other.’ Your dog poops on the sidewalk, it’s $50. If I was looking for publicity, I would have pooped on the sidewalk.” Recently, he has begun a webcast on his Youtube Channel called “The Roth Show,” where he expresses opinions and shares stories about a wide variety of topics. |
