An American songwriter, record producer, author, actor, as well as a social activist, the musician Steven Curtis Chapman is quite the well-rounded individual. Releasing 20 albums since his musical debut in the 80s, he has one of the most extensive bodies of music in the genre of contemporary Christian music, which has won him five Grammys, and an astounding 56 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards (more than any other musician in history to date), seven of which are “Artist of the Year” Dove awards (another record he currently holds). He has sold over 10 million albums and has a total of eight Certified Gold or Platinum albums. He is an avid social activist, forming and donating to charities such as “Show Hope,” “Children’s Hunger Fund,” “World Vision,” “Compassionart,” and others. He also made significant contributions to the production of a music video geared towards youth violence prevention, designed to promote awareness among teenagers of planned violence among peers, and to encourage them to report any signs or knowledge of serious intentions of violence. He dedicated his song “With Hope” to the families who lost love ones in the shootings in the Heath High School Shooting in 1997. He also looks remarkably like Neil Patrick Harris. |
