The series “Contemporary Russian Composers” presents Quartet No. 1 for two violins, viola and violoncello by V. S. Dashkevich.
Vladimir Dashkevich is one of the well-known composers, who writes in all genres beginning from film music (“Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson”, “Heart of a Dog”, “Winter Cherry”, “Thief”, etc.) to chamber and symphonic compositions.
A serious genre hasn’t taken away his characteristic features from the composer. The tunes, elegantly written into the design of a classical quartet form, sound very lively and unhackneyed, developing in the dense quartet texture naturally and unexpectedly.
