Style: Medium Jazz
In maintaining a jazz feel on The Spin Doctor, eighth notes are not played with a “lazy” feel. The rhythm section should be playing some good straight time. Cues on the drum part are to let your drummer know what is going on in the orchestra ... he needn’t try to “catch” every nuance. Ensemble is to be played very straight-forwardly, and not to be phrased “pretty”. The most important thing about a good performance for this arrangement is not sound, is not technique ... it is TIME!
