The series “Contemporary Russian Composers” presents the score of the ballet “Viy” by Gennady Gladkov. The libretto was written by Leonid Lebedev after the story by Nikolai Gogol with the same title. 1984. The ballet has never been staged. Most of the numbers have been performed on symphonic concerts. Some of the musical stuff of the composition was used in ballet film “The Devil’s Dance” shot in 1992 by director Oleg Grigorovich and choreographer Leonid Lebedev.
