FOLIO: Twenty Pedal Preludes
The whole developing system of piano technique, which was worked out by S. Maykapar, is reflected in the cycle of piano miniatures called “Twenty Pedal Preludes.” Two pedals are used in these pieces: rhythmic and delayed pedal, and their variants. The pieces are arranged on the principle of gradual complication. Commentaries, explaining the mechanism of the right, left and middle pedals and their influence on piano sounds, are separately published.
